Assignment:

Visit Baptist Mission integrated school, Mirpur to learn about visual impaired female students. Help them by fund raiser and solving any problem within budget.

Your goals: Arrange an event there, where blind students will make stuffs according to their efficiency. (Like: show-piece, greeting cards etc). Use a portion from money to buy primary materials they want to make stuffs. Raise fund by selling them. Donate some equipment to BMIS that they need. Or get information from them about helpless visual impaired girl who need equipments and donate to solve the problem. Raise awareness about visual impaired people. Be creative.

Helpful tip: You can also help them by making them some voice record of any nice novel or poem book.

Research: Write a full featured investigation paper on visual impaired students to get knowledge about how they run regular study and human-technology interaction in BMIS. Take as many case studies as possible, include check the age range of the participants, financial condition, education level and facilities, does she use mobile phone?  Their computer literacy, availability of sound recording system, Computer and Internet, available free time, security issues and maintenance. Try to get in-depth information on technology usage and opportunity. Their obstacles to get higher studies and common problems they are facing in society. Their opinions as solutions.

“Essence of Shadhinota: A Challenge 2011”, arranged by Community Action, has been attended. The group “BINDU” is formed, consisting 9 members. The Goal is visiting Baptist mission integrated school, arranging an event for the visually impaired children, teaching them how to make a handicraft and raising fund to donate equipment to the school or any needy visually impaired girl.

A Facebook group is formed for the betterment of communication among the members.

Visiting BMIS was planned. But could not be implemented as Principal Silvia was busy with other stuffs.

March 28, 2011

Initial planning has been started. Organizing an event in the school compound has been decided. The main product would be greeting cards.

March 29, 2011

Three group members (Avia, Nodi and Sharmin) visited BMIS. They collected the case studies and tried to know about their needs and problems. They have dire need of Braille books. So, it has been decided that the collected fund would be donated in the Braille book sector.

The students have exams at the moment, so they cannot give much time on making the cards. But as they have some already made crafts, we can use them.

Group meeting was held. Idea of organizing an exhibition arose, but as the time is limited, so the idea has been discarded.

Going to Newmarket for buying art papers, colors, stickers and audio cds.

Visiting BMIS was planned, but the students would be busy for celebrating the day for handicapped people, so visiting was cancelled.

Another poster was designed. Principal Silvia has told to arrange the event on next Thursday and Friday as on those days the students would be free.

April 4, 2011

Visiting BMIS for the collection of some already made handicrafts, like: penholders, piece of art, mirror stand etc. An album was published on facebook with the pictures of the products for both selling and creating awareness.

April 5, 2011

A group meeting was held. Decision was made that each of the 9 members would try to sell 10 products.

April 6, 2011

Last moment discussions are done through  phone and Internet.

April 7, 2011

The event’s day. The students made some beautiful cards. Some stones were also bought to teach them how to make a bracelet using them. After that we heard their beautifully sang songs.
