Action: Workshop for Changemakers was organized at various locations over the country, with the aim of making a change in the life of underprivileged students. It was held at Dhaka, Laxmipur and Gaibandha.
CommunityAction, along with volunteers from Sunnydale School and College, organized a daylong workshop titled “Workshop for Changemakers”, with the slogan “Amra Shikhbo and Shikhabo”. This workshop was targeted for girls from eight schools, namely MA Mohila College, Savar Model College, etc. The aim of this workshop was to make the underprivileged girls aware of the small opportunities that could change their lives for the better; and if guided properly, they can stand as future leaders, maybe perhaps simply as much as a good mother.
Around seventy five participants were divided into four teams. The workshop was split up into four sections: Education and Empowerment which emphasized on the practical applications of education beyond that of just reading and writing, such as managing jobs and personal life, Health & Hygiene where possible health hazards from, for example, unsafe blood transfusion, personal hygiene and HIV/AIDS were discussed, Science & the World where general knowledge based on geography, technology, heritage and current affairs were talked about and lastly Lifestyle management which was designed to teach the practical importance of honesty, kindness and sharing through exercises and pledges.
The initial feedback showed that all these girls returned home with the confidence that change
was possible, and will be brought about by someone from amongst themselves.
