On the 25th of November, CommunityAction arranged a hand-on-workshop for actioneers on the science of project planning and implementation. Actioneers are always having to plan projects, whether they be a small one or a big one. So CommunityAction, wanting to build up a generation of Actioneers with professional training, organised this workshop.
The workshop took place at the Rural Research Foundation which is a concern of Rahimafrooz. A few employee of Rahimafrooz attended the workshop along with the actioneers. It was a five hours long workshop lasing from 2 pm to 7 pm conducted by Dr. N. I. Robi. Twenty actioneers attended the workshop including the president and the general secretary.
Dr Robi introduced the concept of the science of project planning. Like every other thing, when a project is planned in a scientific way, the output is obviously greater. Professionally trained actioneers will be much more efficient.
Dr Islam carried out the workshop with active involvement from the actioneers. He started off with asking an actioneer to distribute some chocolates among everybody within a fixed time which the actioneer did not know of. When the time was up there were a few people left without chocolates. He proceeded by asking the actioneers to find out the flaws in the task and how it could be carried out more efficiently.
This was followed by Dr Robi explaning the sciences of planning. Then he divided the whole team into 4 groups and each of the groups were given a project. They got half an hour to plan and present the project plan using multimedia. The actioneers presented their project plans and Dr Islam discussed the flaws in them and how to rectify those problems.
The workshop was very lively. The enthusiastic actioneers learned a lot from it and were very eager to start applying this knew knowledge in their everyday work.
Goal of the workshop: To create a generation of “Actioneers with professional training
It is one of the regular yearly training session of CommunityAction for potential and bright Actioneers.
